    Description: 
    A standing figure of an Italian soldier dressed in his uniform. He holds the barrel of his rifle vertically with both hands by his proper right side, the stock resting by his foot. The soldier wears a helmet, cartridge belt, and a long coat, with a bayonet attached to his rear proper left hip. The sculpture is mounted upon a granite base with two graduated concrete lower tiers. The monument is installed upon a square foundation that is surrounded by a bed of white stones edged with brick.

    Remarks: 
    The monument is in memory of the Italian soldiers from Schenectady, New York. It was funded through contributions from members of Vittorio Veneto, Inc. The sculpture cost $4,000, and the base and foundation cost $500-600. It was dedicated on September 26, 1970, during a celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy. IAS files contain: full transcription of names on the base; and a dedication booklet (in Italian, with some English).
