Remarks:
The statue was donated by Donald Danforth, in honor of his father William. H. Danforth, the founder of the Ralston-Purina Company. The checkerboard pattern near the bottom of the base is a reference to Ralston-Purina's checkerboard trademark. The figure is modeled after a St. Louis area high school student, and the inscriptions are quotations of advice to young Americans by William Danford. American Farm Girl is a companion piece to American Farm Boy (MD000080).
