Founders (On bronze tablet under portrait:) JOSEPH W. ANDERSON/MAJOR C.S. ARTILLERY/KILLED IN BATTLE MAY 16, 1865 signed Founder's mark appears. Description:  A relief portrait, bust-length, of Major Joseph W. Anderson. He wears a uniform, but no hat. He has a full beard and moustache. The relief is on a granite stele, which rests on low rectangular granite base. Monument located on land that was formerly property of Vicksburg National Military Park. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 03360).
