Ruckstuhl (Back of sculpture, lower left:) 1891 Paris Fecit signed Founder's mark appears. Description:  Standing, partially draped nude figure of Mercury, with an eagle, a lamb, two snakes, and a font or incense stand. "Mercury facing proper left. Lamb is lying on top of piece of furniture or font [incense stand] to proper left of Mercury. Eagle wings are spread vertically. Eagle is on Mercury's proper left. Eagle faces proper right, toward Mercury. Proper left arm of Mercury is up against eagle's proper right wing, as if in battle over lamb. Mercury's proper right arm comes across the front of his body and is holding a scepter with the two serpents on it, as if warding off the eagle from the lamb. Mercury's proper left leg extends in front of the font [incense stand] and his proper right leg is straight." The Index of American Sculpture, University of Delaware record lists the location of this piece as Vandeventor Place, St. Louis, Missouri.
