Remarks:
Simon Bolivar (1783-1830) was a South American soldier, statesman, and revolutionary leader known as El Libertador (the Liberator) for his role in liberating several South American nations from Spanish rule in the 19th century. A native of Venezuela, Bolivar served as leader of Colombia, Peru, and a nation that combined Colombia and Venezuela. Bolivia was named after Bolivar. This bust was a gift of the Government of Venezuela. The bust was formerly
located
in Bayfront Park but was moved when the park was redeveloped. IAS files contain article from the
