    Remarks: 
    Simon Bolivar (1783-1830) was a South American soldier, statesman, and revolutionary leader known as El Libertador (the Liberator) for his role in liberating several South American nations from Spanish rule in the 19th century. A native of Venezuela, Bolivar served as leader of Colombia, Peru, and a nation that combined Colombia and Venezuela. Bolivia was named after Bolivar. This bust was a gift of the Government of Venezuela. The bust was formerly located in Bayfront Park but was moved when the park was redeveloped. IAS files contain article from the Miami Herald, July 31, 1986, sect. B, which discusses the relocation of the bust. IAS files contain additional information and articles related to the relocation of the bust.
