Description:
This site-specific sculpture features two wings, each composed of two pieces mounted atop it own circular pedestal. One wing is a blue and yellow painted wing and the other a natural finish Cor-Ten steel wing. The wings point in opposite directions and cross one another in the middle, each curving inward to symbolize an embrace. The blue represents the heavens, water, and sky. The yellow represents sun, happiness, and growth. The Cor-Ten steel's natural finish of rusty red orange represents earth and the feeling of being grounded. The sculpture symbolizes the bond of the surrounding neighborhoods, and the importance of family and community well-being.
