Description:
An abstract torso figure with a facial plane tilted skyward and the arm at extended proper left ending in an abstract truncated shoulder. The sculpture rests upon a circular base on a square flat foundation that is inset into a brick plaza.

Remarks:
The sculpture was purchased from the artist by the Metrocentre Improvement District Commission for $185,000 in 1978. The base cost approximately $15,000. Funds for the sculpture were privately raised through levies on property in
Little
Rock
's improvement district. The sculpture is number four of an edition of six created by the artist in 1961. It originally rested in the artist's garden at his residence in Much Hadham, outside of London.
The sculpture was installed by Mid-State Tile Company in
Little
Rock
's Metrocentre Pedestrian Mall, at the corner of Capitol Avenue and Main Street, in September of 1978. It was relocated in December of 1990, fifty feet west to the 100 block of West Capitol Avenue, to improve traffic flow. The sculpture was cleaned and waxed in 1985 under the direction of the Metrocentre Improvement District Commission. SOS! report lists base media as red granite; but article in the
Arkansas
Gazette, Sept. 26, 1978, refers to base media as marble. IAS files contain a related excerpt from Donald Hall's "Henry Moore: The Life and Work of a Great Sculptor," New York: Harper & Row, 1966, pg. 160-161. IAS files contain related articles from the
