Remarks:
IAS files contain copies of the contract signed by Dennis Smith and the Mayor of
Havana
for the purchase of the piece and correspondence with the artist and the City Clerk (July 26, 1976), which indicates that the "broken cat tail" was mended. IAS files also contain copy of an article from Mason County Democrat (
Havana
, IL), Jan. 24, 1976. Work was commissioned by the city to memorialize the Original Duck, the Elite Eight basketball team of 1975-1976, and the nation's bicentennial. Purchased for 8,500 dollars.
