    Description: 
    Full-length figure of a soldier standing in military uniform. In his proper left hand he holds the Union flag upright against his side. His proper right arm is crossed over his chest and his hand grasps the hilt of a sword which hangs by his proper left leg. The sculpture stands on an elaborate pedestal which rests on a two stage plinth. In the middle front face of the pedestal is a three-dimensional sculpture of an eagle, wings outstretched and head turned to its proper left. It grasps arrows in its talons.

    Cost of the monument was $6,000. The monument sits on the site of the former Town House which served as an enlistment headquarters during the Civil War.
