    Description: 
    The sculpture depicts three Union soldiers, one in the center holding up a flag flanked by two kneeling soldiers holding rifles. The soldier on the proper right side kneels with is right knee down, his left leg bent, and his rifle held across his body with both hands. A knapsack is strapped to his back, a canteen and bayonet hang across his left side, and under his left leg is a square pack. The soldier in the center stands with his left leg forward, his gaze directed off to his right, and the flag held up over his held. The kneeling soldier on the proper left is wounded, his left hand pressed to his chest wound, his right hand holding his rifle, his bayonet hanging under his left arm, and his canteen resting on the ground beside him.
