Inscription:  (On plaque:) "DURING YOUR TIMES OF/TRIAL AND SUFFERING WHEN YOU SEE/ONLY ONE SET OF FOOTPRINTS/IT WAS THEN I CARRIED YOU." signed Description:  Two soldiers, a man and a woman, stand in desert battle fatigues, with full gear. The man wears a helmet and holds an M-16 rifle in his proper right hand. The woman holds a gas mask in front of her and has a rifle slung over her proper right shoulder. Her helmet is on the ground in front of her. Three surrounding benches honor area men killed in the war. It was dedicated by United We Stand, Greater Evansville area support group. The sculpture cost $45,500. Funds were raised through bake sales and raffles. IAS files contain a related article from the Evansville Courier, May 2, 1993, which lists media as copper. Nearby plaque reads: THIS MONUMENT IS DEDICATED TO THE MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN WHO HEROICALLY SERVED IN THE PERSIAN GULF WAR TO LIBERATE KUWAIT/AND IN RECOGNITION OF THEIR SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY AND/COUNTRY.../FOR THE HONOR AND GLORY OF GOD AND TO THOSE WHO SERVED AND/SACRIFICED IN PAST WARS AND CONFLICTS./DESERT SHIELD-DESERT STORM/AUG. 22, 1990-FEBRUARY 27, 1991/INVASION OF KUWAIT-LIBERATION OF KUWAIT/"MY CONFIDENCE IN YOU IS TOTAL.
