    Description: 
    Standing figure of a man in eighteenth-century dress, holding a book in his proper left hand. Figure is hatless, wears unbuttoned coat, vest, knee-length pants, stockings, and shoes. He stands in contapposto with proper left leg bent and placed slightly forward; proper left arm is bent and hand props book against proper left hip. Figure stands atop a tall, four-sided base which flares outwards towards the bottom.
