Digital Reference:  Medium:  Sculpture: bronze; Base: metal. Dimensions:  Sculpture: approx. 8 x 5 x 1 1/2 ft.; Base: approx. 8 x 1 x 1 ft. Inscription:  unsigned Description:  An elongated full-length figure of a nude male. He stands with his proper left leg extended backward and his arms outstretched to the sky, his head back and up. The sculpture is dark brown and mounted upon a square column. Subject:  Figure male -- Full length Figure male -- Nude Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Indiana -- South Bend Sculpture Owner:  Indiana University at South Bend, Physical Plant, 1700 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46615 Remarks:  The artist was a student at the University. The base had been previously placed there for another sculpture. To the east of the sculpture is a bench, with a plaque which reads: OF WOODEN SHIPS AND IRON MEN/IN MEMORY OF/ROBERT L.
