He wears a feather headdress and gazes to the proper right; his proper right hand is raised to his forehead. The panel below depicts a full-length figure of a Franciscan monk. He wears a monk's cassock which is tied at the waist. He holds a small book against his chest in his proper left hand. His proper right hand is raised in benediction. In the distance, behind his head, is the outline of a mission church. The top panel of the door on the right features a full-length male figure of a miner. He is shown in proper right profile. He wears trousers and a hat but no shirt. He holds a pickaxe in his proper right hand and rests his proper left arm on an outcropping of rocks. Mountains are visible in the distance. The panel below depicts a full-length nude figure of a youth. The figure stands beside a wheel, and holds up an architectural model high above the proper left shoulder. The figure's face is obscured by the proper right arm. Each of the relief panels is surrounded by a geometric pattern of rectangles bordered with decorative reliefs.
