    Description: 
    A Confederate soldier stands in field uniform wearing a field hat and tattered clothes, including a open-collared shirt and belted pants. He holds the stock of his rifle with his proper left hand, with his proper right hand holding the butt. The soldier is mounted upon a tall, multitiered, inscribed base with a stepped lower section, with bronze relief plaques on front and back. The front relief depicts a youth, perhaps a female, holding a shield with the Coat of Arms of Virginia. The rear relief depicts a woman holding a Confederate flag, with inscriptions above her head. The entire monument is surrounded by a short, chain link fence.
