    Description: 
    A totem pole carved in the style of the Salish Indians, with a raven perched on top of a woman's head. The woman holds a salmon in front of her with both hands. The totem is mounted on a square base and set in a planter.

    Remarks: 
    The figures represent the Salish legend of how salmon were created when Raven, "the beginner of all things," was searching for food for his people and met Salmon Woman, who created salmon for people to eat. The totem was commissioned for the Seattle School District by the Washington State Cultural Enrichment Program. IAS files contain related article from James M.
