Description:
Cowboy riding a bucking horse which stands with its nose bent towards the ground and hind legs rising into the air. Figure wears buttoned-up long-sleeved shirt, sheep's wool chaps, trousers, and boots; hat is raised aloft in proper right hand. Proper left hand holds reins, feet are planted firmly in stirrups.

Remarks:
Monument was first proposed in 1976 by Homer C. and Eliza J. Richards, who donated monies for the project. Installation in 1976 cost an estimated $15,900. Plaques on base honor veterans from World War I & II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and, added in 1991 with funding provided by
Jackson
Hole Rotary Clubs, veterans of Operation Desert Storm, the Persian Gulf War. IAS files contain related news clipping from
Jackson
Hole Guide (WY) May 1, 1991; and citation to another article in
Jackson
Hole Guide dated Jan. 8, 1976.
