Remarks:
IAS files contain related excerpts from Moffat, Charles Hill, "Marshall University 1837-1980, An Institution Comes Alive," ca. 1981, pg. 103-104, 173. This bust is a replacement of the original marble bust by Robert Fleisch (WV000076), which was vandalized in 1957. Jablonski, who helped design the original bust's base, was called upon to created a new model for casting. The bust was donated by A. R. Winters. The pedestal was donated by Harry F. McColm, Jr, president of the F. C. McColm Granite Company. The bust is bolted to the marble base and two strips of wood have been place between the metal and marble to serve as spacers.
