    Description:
A young, uniformed Confederate soldier stands holding his rifle horizontally at waist length with both hands, the muzzle with fixed bayonet pointing upward by his proper left. He wears a field hat and top boots, his head turned to his proper left, towards the South. A blanket roll (?) is slung diagonally form his proper right shoulder. A bayonet holster hangs at his proper left hip and a canteen on his proper right hip. On his belt is a bullet box and a buckle inscribed with "CSA." The toes of the soldier extend out over the integral base. The sculpture is mounted upon a multitiered base with castellated top, a large relief on the lower front of a partially unfurled Confederate flag on a spear staff with two tassels. The bottom tier is rough-edged, mounted on a square foundation of what appears to be native stone. The monument is set at the top of a staircase.
