Description:
A mounted Confederate soldier reaches down with his proper left arm to grasp the proper left arm of a soldier kneeling on the ground. The mounted soldier carries a Confederate flag in his proper right hand. The kneeling soldier holds a sword in his proper left hand; his proper right arm is in a sling. The horse is rearing up on its hind legs.

Remarks:
Jerry Anderson donated his labor, while Green Valley developer Alan Coombs funded the cost of the materials for the
sculpture
. The
sculpture
was temporarily located at Green Valley Mall, prior to the completion of the Dixie Center. IAS files contain transcription of text on base plaque and related newsclippings from Dixie Sun (Jan. 25, 1985) and other undated issues.
