The figure is a replica of one in the National Park at Chattanooga, Tennessee. The sculpture were erected by the Sam Lanham Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and cost approximately $3,000. IAS files contain related excerpts from G. A. Holland's "History of Parker County and the Double Log Cabin," pg. 106-107; and an article from the Weekly Herald (Weatherford, TX) Jan. 4, 1928.
