    Description: 
    Full-length stone portrait of Sam Davis, a Confederate soldier. The figure wears a uniform with a pouch against his waist on the proper left side. He wears a wide-brimmed hat and has a moustache. In his proper right hand he holds a pipe. He has a musket gun which rests on the ground; the barrel of the gun points skyward and the gun rests against his proper right wrist. The sculpture stands atop a multi-tiered pink granite base. On the face of the base is a relief of a Confederate flag with a cross and thirteen stars.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture of the Confederate soldier was obtained in Italy and is the work of Italian artists. The model for the sculpture was Sam Davis, a Confederate soldier from the state of Tennessee. The monument was designed and constructed by E. Anderson, owner of Bonham Marble Works. Cost of the monument was $2,500 and funding was provided by Sul Ross Camp of Confederate Veterans Association, the Fannin Chapter #244, United Daughters of the Confederacy in Bonham, the Nathan Bedford Forrest Chapter #256, and United Daughters of the Confederacy in Dodd City.
