    Inscription on nearby plaque reads: Harlod Pastorius, Jr./"Vent" 1975/Corten Steel/Commission, 1st National Sculpture Competition. IAS files contain copies of the South Dakota Memorial Art Center News, Summer and Fall 1975; the Brookings Daily Register (Brookings, SD), Sept. 2, 1975, and the South Dakota State University Collegian, Sept. 10, 1975. The 5,500 dollar commission was sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the South Dakota Arts Council and South Dakota State University. The piece was State University's first outdoor sculpture.
