(Above inscription is a cross-like symbol with the words "Cuba" on top, "Philippe Islands" on left, "Porto Rico" on right and "USA" at bottom. (Circle within cross says "Spanish*War*Veterans*1898 1902" with stars appearing between the words) signed Founder's mark appears.

    Full-length figure of a soldier stands on a rectangular base. The soldier wears the uniform of the Spanish-American War. His rifle is crooked in his proper right arm.

    Remarks: 
    Erected by the City of Woonsocket in honor of the City's citizens who served during the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection. The City contributed $5,000 towards the monument. IAS files include an excerpt from "Woonsocket, Rhode Island: a Centennial History, 1888-1988" and citations to the book "Woonsocket, Highlights of History 1800-1976" by Dr. A.P. Thomas, c1976. T. P. Murray may have designed the base.
