Inscription:  (On front of base:) IN MEMORIUM/SHAMOKIN/VOLUNTEER/FIREMAN/1873-1976/FRIENDSHIP/INDEPENDENCE/LIBERTY/RESCUE/WEST END Description:  A male fireman stands in uniform holding the nozzle of a fire hose with both hands. He steps forward with his proper left leg. The sculpture is set atop an exedra base with bench seating. O. Box Q, Shamokin, Pennsylvania 17872 Located Market Street, Shamokin, Pennsylvania Remarks:  Efforts to erect the memorial were spearheaded by the fire department and chaired by William D. Wary. The memorial cost $5,000 and was raised through public subscription. The monument serves as a memorial to volunteer firemen in all five companies in the city.
