Inscription:  ALLAN HOUSER/092 HAOSOUS (On plaque on base, rear:) ALLAN HOUSER (HA-O-ZOUS)/CHIRICAHUA APACHE/1914-1994/MAY WE HAVE PEACE/BRONZE 1992 (On plaque on base, left, following brief biography of artist:) "Human dignity is very important to me./I feel that way toward all people, not just Indians." (On plaque on base, front:) A university is a place where we should/learn how to challenge and argue with/each other without ceasing to love/and respect each other. (Plaque on the right side of the base lists donors and contributors towards the purchase of the work) signed Description:  Standing Native-American male figure faces east. He wears moccasins, buckskin pants and a breechcloth. Both arms are extended upward with a peace pipe clasped in hands held as though in prayer. A narrow strip of fabric hangs from the pipe. The figure wears a single feather, and a knife protrudes from his proper right hip. The sculpture stands on a square base.
