Digital Reference:  Medium:  Sculpture: sandstone; Base: concrete; Fence: forged iron. Dimensions:  Sculpture: approx. 6 x 5 x 5 ft.; Fence: approx. H. 34 1/2 in. Inscription:  Denham A. "Denny" Stiers MCMXC (On base below the anvil:) "The/Village Blacksmith/MCMXC." signed Description:  Chester, the village blacksmith, stands behind an anvil, bent at the waist, preparing to forge a horseshoe. He has a mustache and wears a blacksmith apron, pants, and a brimmed hat. His proper right arm is raised and holds a hammer that he is about to strike down on a horseshoe. In his proper left hand he holds the horseshoe on top of an anvil using a pair of tongs. The anvil rests on an oval base which is inscribed on the front. The sculpture is mounted upon a flat square base and is surrounded by a low iron fence. Within the ironwork of the fence are twenty-one miniature sculptures. Within the fenced area, there is a plaque on a short stand in front of the sculpture.
