    Description: 
    A bronze figure of a Confederate soldier standing with his left hand raised to his hat, his left leg forward, and a bayonet held in his right hand, the butt of which resting on the ground by his right foot. The soldier stands atop a granite base inscribed with an inscription honoring southern soldiers who died in federal prisons on Johnson's Island during the Civil War.

    The monument was erected by the Robert Patton Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy of Cincinnati, Ohio in honor of the southern soldiers who died in federal prisons on Johnson's Island. IAS files contain transcriptions from the Confederate Veteran (Aug. 1910).
