The Marlborough Vase, (sculpture). Artist:  J. W. Fiske Iron Works, founder. Title:  The Marlborough Vase, (sculpture). Dates:  ca. 1892. Digital Reference:  Medium:  Sculpture: painted metal; Base: metal. Dimensions:  Sculpture: approx. H. 64 in. x Diam. 91 in.; Base: approx. 37 x 44 x 44 in. Inscription:  J. W. Fiske Ironworks Founder's mark appears. Description:  Elaborately conceived vase with round bowl and a columnic stem stands on a square base. Relief ornamentation includes leaves, grapes, faces and flowers. Fantastical animal heads make up the handles. The piece is used as a planter. Subject:  Fantasy -- Animal Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Ohio -- Sandusky Decorative arts Sculpture Owner:  Cedar Point Amusement Park, Garden Department, 1 Cedar Point, Midway, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 Exhibitions:  World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893. Remarks:  It is believed that G. A. Boeckling, original developer of the Point, purchased this vase from the World's Columbian Exposition, held in Chicago in 1893. The vase is probably not at its original location in Cedar's Point, as the park was radically changed in the 1950s. IAS files contain excerpt from a J. W.
