Description:
A huge, oval-shaped, concrete basket, constructed with woven strips painted yellow, green and purple. The basket is filled with earth and weeds which emerge through its sides. The
sculpture
is mounted on top of a short concrete base that rests on an oval mound of vegetation-covered earth. The basket is surrounded by a bright blue concrete moat that is filled with water in season. Above the concrete walls of the moat is a row of bricks and on top of the bricks is a wall of granite stones. A four foot wide oval sidewalk surrounds the moat.

The
sculpture
is dedicated to the memory of the artist and his exceptional work on this
sculpture
, and others, for
Lorain
's park system. The original concept for the
sculpture
came from the Park Superintendent. Construction plans were carried out by the park system mechanic. The weave design has been patented and registered. At Easter time, the
sculpture
is decorated with large concrete eggs, and during the summer, flowers are planted. IAS files contain a related clipping from the
Lorain
Parks & Recreation Department about Lakeview Park.
