    Description: 
    A flat platform, 8 ft. in diameter formed of concentric steel rings spaced as in a fire escape. It is supported slightly above ground on a circular reinforced concrete column 30 in. in diameter. One-half of the platform rests on the earth and the grass grows up through the rings. The other half juts out over the downslope. The sculpture is painted red.

    Remarks: 
    Funded with a National Endowment for the Arts, Art in Public Places grant given in 1986 to the City of Dayton. Additional funding was provided by the Ohio Arts Council, area colleges, the Dayton Art Institute, Hale Church's Neighborhood Artists, and the Miami Valley Arts Council. The sculpture was commissioned under the City of Dayton's Alternative Spaces Program. Cost of the sculpture was $1500. Dayton Fabricated Steel rolled the steel rods; Merker forged and bent the steel slats and Mitolo acted as consultant for the project. IAS files contain copies of the Dedication Ceremony Invitation and related articles from the Dayton Journal Herald, April 29 and July 3, 1982 and Dialogue: the Ohio Arts Journal (Sept./Oct. 1982): pg. 14.
