The sculpture was a tribute to the zeal of an 85 year old nun at St. Mary of the Springs, Sister Mary Andrew, whose five year campaign of paper salvage and sales tax stamp redemption raised the money for the statue's purchase. Father Joachin Bauer directed the project. IAS files contain excerpt from the Catholic Times dated Oct. 26, 1951. The work was originally sited in the glenn on the same grounds.
