Description:
A steel sphere, 7 ft. in diameter, is held in the air by four "legs" which rise vertically from the ground, then bend into the center to support the globe. Overblazed with bronze, the sphere consists of a thin rod frame, laced with 29 figures from 9 to 15 in. high, in various positions "symbolizing the educational development of man." A raised design produced by a welding method covers the legs.
