Description:
A bronze female figure dressed in classical drapery, her left arm raised above her head, and her right hand holding a laurel wreath by her side. She stands atop a roughly cut square granite base that is adorned on the front with an inscription Rhode Island soldiers who died during the Civil War.

This monument was erected by the state of Rhode Island in honor of the soldiers from Rhode Island who died during in the Civil War. IAS files contain an excerpt from the State of Rhode Island Report of the
New
Berne(sic) Monument Commission, Jan. 1910, which describes the commissioning and dedication of the monument.
