Description:
Full-length figure of a Civil War soldier standing at parade rest. He wears a uniform including overcoat and cap. He has a moustache. He holds the barrel of a rifle in his hands; the butt of the gun rests on the ground in front of his feet. A bayonet sheath is attached to the proper left side of his belt and a small arms case is attached to the proper right side of his belt; an second small arms case is attached to the proper right rear of his belt. The granite
sculpture
stands on a tall granite pedestal. The lower front of the pedestal has a relief of crossed rifles and a canteen. The pedestal base ends in three steps.
