Description:
A square relief plaque is mounted on the front of a granite wall. On top of the wall is a small tapered shaft topped by a bronze eagle with wings spread. The relief image, taken from an Al Chang photograph known as " The Battle of Heartbreak Ridge," depicts three soldiers dressed in Army fatigues huddled together on a muddy hillside. One man is curled up in the arms of another, his head resting on his comrades chest. A third soldier is seated to their proper right with knees drawn up to his chest, wearing a helmet and sunglasses. He holds a letter or document in his lap with both hands. The dog tag of a dead comrade dangles from his finger. A lone helmet rests on the ground in front of him. Commemorative bronze plaques flank the relief. The
sculpture
is surrounded closely by low bushes.
