    Description: 
    A portrait of the young Sybil Ludington seated side saddle atop her galloping horse, as she rides through the countryside calling out to warn the citizens of the burning of Danbury by the British. She holds the horse's reins with her proper left hand and holds a stick above her head with her proper right hand. The sculpture rests on a rectangular base made of field stones.

    Remarks: 
    Sybil Ludington was a sixteen-year old Putnam County girl who is known as the female Paul Revere because of her famous ride of April 26, 1777 through the dark countryside to alert those living in the outlying farms that the British were burning Danbury, Connecticut. The inscription on a nearby plaque reads: Sybil Ludington/rode horseback over this/road the night of April 26, 1777/to call out Colonel Ludington's regiment to/repel British at Danbury, Conn.
