    Description: 
    Colossal portrait head of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He is depicted in his later years. The bronze sculpture sits atop a tall concrete base which is faced with slate.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture is part of a larger memorial erected in memory of Roosevelt and in celebration of the town's twenty-fifth anniversary. Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt spoke at the dedication ceremonies. The ground for the memorial was donated by the Board of Education. The sculpture was cast in Italy. Field designed the landscaping around the memorial. Plungian, the mayor of the town, constructed the memorial's nearby amphitheatre, pool and the base the sculpture rests on. IAS files contain copy of related dedication ceremony program.
