The
sculpture
cost $75,000. Funds were raised through popular subscriptions, the contributions of school children and factory workers, and members of the Lincoln Association. The
sculpture
was placed at the eastern end of the Lincoln Highway which was to run from the Atlantic to the Pacific. The
sculpture
was installed through the initiative of the Lincoln Association. Albert Randolph Ross designed the base. The
sculpture
