(On back of base:) CelliNi Bronze Works, NY (On front of base, incised:) CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS/DISCOVERER OF AMERICA/ERECTED BY/THE PEOPLE OF THIS COMMUNITY/UNDER THE AUSPICES OF/THE ITALIAN-AMERICANS/OF HOBOKEN/DEDICATED/OCTOBER 12, 1937/COLUMBUS PARK signed Founder's mark appears. Description:  A figure of Christopher Columbus, dressed in medieval garb that includes a belted shirt, a long swirling cape, a cap, and gloves, stands with his proper right hand raised to his brow while his proper left hand hangs by his side. A sword hangs from the proper left side of his belt and a cross hangs around his neck. The figure is placed atop an inscribed two-sectioned base that is set within a small garden setting.
