    Remarks:
The artist was one of 3,000 artisans chosen to contribute an original work of art for the White House permanent Christmas ornament collection. The artist may have created a miniature version of this sculpture for his contribution. IAS files contain a related article from The Portsmouth Herald (NH), Dec. 22, 1993, pg. A3. The Flying Heron was exhibited in most of 1993 at an art gallery in York, Maine. There it was hung from above, hence the eyebolt on top of the bird. It was installed at its present site in November or early December 1993. High winter winds broke the original support rod. Wires were subsequently installed.
