Description:
A relief pediment above the main entrance portico to St. Joseph Church shows the baby Jesus on the arm of Joseph who is flanked by two kneeling angels. In the center of the pediment a bearded and barefoot figure of Joseph with a halo stands dressed in a long belted robe and an outer cloak flowing off his proper right shoulder. He holds the infant Jesus with his proper left arm and he holds up a flowering lily in his lowered proper right hand. The infant Jesus is barefoot and dressed in long robes. Behind his head is a halo embedded with a symbol of a cross. He raises his proper right hand, palm facing out, index and middle fingers pointing up. In his proper left hand he holds scepter topped with a cross. The angels that flank Joseph are dressed in flowing robes and each has elongated wings with lines that are parallel with those of the pediment. The angel on Joseph's proper right, kneels on its proper left knee with its proper right knee raised. The angel on the proper left, has a band around its forehead and kneels on its proper left knee with its proper right knee raised.
