    Remarks:
The fountain was erected ca. 1906, when the old courthouse was demolished and the Woman's Park Association raised funds to develop the park, including the fountain. Originally, the fountain was surmounted by a cast iron figure. During the 1950s, the figure was either broken by vandals or it rusted through and fell over. The pioneer woman was a replacement erected in the late 1960s. IAS files contain a related article from the Grand Island Independent (Grand Island, NE), July 6, 1983.
