Truman for Kansas City's Jackson County Courthouse. The sculpture was funded with surplus funds from a bond raised for the new Jackson County Courthouse in Kansas City. IAS files contain articles from the Kansas City Star, Dec. 26, 1949; and Independence Examiner (Independence, Missouri), Dec. 27, 1949, pg. 1, both of which discuss the dedication. IAS files also contain copy from dedication program; and excerpt from Truman, Margaret, "Harry S. Truman," New York: Simon & Schuster, 1972, pg. 88-89, which discusses President Truman's role in obtaining the equestrian figure.
