Inscription:  (On granite plaque on base:) DEDICATED TO THE GLORY OF GOD/AND IN EVERLASTING TRIBUTE TO/THE MEN AND WOMEN OF SLAYTON/AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES WHO/SERVED THEIR COUNTRY IN ALL/WARS TO PRESERVE THIS NATION unsigned Description:  Crucifixion scene stands on a tiered base and rectangular pedestal. Mary stands to the left of the corpus, St. John stands to the right and Mary Magdelene kneels at the foot of the cross. All wear robes. Mary's head is covered. Mary Magdelene is hugging the cross. There is an emblem for the four branches of the military on each corner of the granite-faced base.
