(On lower middle back of sculpture, incised:) BEAVER EDWARDS/1957 signed

A bearded, barefoot man reclines, as if floating. His torso is bare and he wears ankle-length robes that begin from his waist. A long length of material is wrapped around both shoulders and looks like sleeves. The man holds a small Gothic church in the crook of his proper right arm, with his extended proper left arm he holds an open scroll. The sculpture is set on a tiered rectangular base with red granite on the top and black granite on the bottom.
