    Description:
This sculpture celebrates Lynn's industrial history from its beginning in shoe manufacturing to its present-day aircraft engine manufacturing. The sculpture has two sections, both consisting of a narrow row of figures and buildings resting along a horizontal beam that is supported by three pairs of wheels. The first section, representing the manufacture of shoes, consists of seven pairs of cobblers, each pair holding aloft a large ladies high button shoe. Between each pair of cobblers is a small cottage industry building. The second section, representing General Electric Company's aircraft engine manufacturing, depicts (from left to right) factory workers arriving at a factory by car and on foot; a large factory and an office building; three technicians holding aloft a large aircraft engine; and three company executives leading the group. Both sections of the sculpture rest on a long horizontal beam which is supported by seven pairs of vertical beams.
