    Description: 
    A tall granite obelisk adorned around the top with four wreaths and around the bottom with a band of stars. A relief of the U.S. shield and a palm branch adorns the lower front of the obelisk.

    The monument honors those from Hanover who died in the Civil War. The total cost for the monument, including the foundation, was $1,664.88. The funds were raised through a three-day fair held in October of 1877.
