Inscription:  (On front of base:) "TO THE MEMORY OF THE BOYS/WHO DEFENDED THE UNION"/1861-1865/ATTLEBOROUGH'S(sic) TRIBUTE/1908 (On back of base:) "ONE COUNTRY./ONE LANGUAGE./ONE FLAG"/1861-1865/ATTLEBOROUGH'S(sic) TRIBUTE/1908 unsigned Founder's mark appears. Description:  A large granite shaft topped by a bronze figure of a Civil War flagbearer, and flanked by bronze figures of a sailor on the left and a soldier on the right. The front of the granite base is adorned with a relief carving of an eagle and crossed flags.
