Description:
An angel in a long robe holding a long narrow trumpet to his lips with his proper right hand. The blowing of the trumpet symbolizes the good news of Christianity. In his proper left arm, the angel holds the Golden Plates which in Mormonism represent the history of the people and Christ in North America. Joseph Smith, founder of the Church, was guided to the location of the plates by the Angel Moroni and Smith translated the plates to create the Book of Mormon. The angel is installed on a large ball at the tip of the lead spire on the church roof.
